Black Douglas Limbs by Core
At Border we offer one level of synthetic composite core and is denoted by an H in the HEX6.5 (discontinued) and HEX6.7 model series. Both offer
approximately 4fps to 8fps more arrow speed than their multi-laminated bamboo/wood equivalent. This
difference is roughly equivalent to 1lb to 1.5lbs of bow weight performance.
More details...
Wood cores vertically stacked end multi-laminated evens out the irregularities and gives a more homogenous make up eliminates possible irregularities that can be found in normal wood cores. Vertically stacked multi-laminated cores are also available in bamboo.
HyperFlex, a tough lightweight core based on a cross linked polymer epoxy resin system. This core is specifically designed to be dimensionally stable under a wide range of temperatures that are well outside those likely to be found in shooting conditions. This core choice is best suited to those archers who wish to reduce bow performance differences caused by temperature changes to an absolute minimum! HyperFlex cores have been in constant use since 2000.
The composite cores listed above is not of foam construction, as by definition a foam has gaseous inclusions and as such should be more susceptible and reactive to temperature changes. The core types that Border use are strong lightweight solids and offer the very best foundation on which to build extremely high performance bows and bow limbs.
