Recommended Timber Arrow Spines
Wood arrow Spine is long over due to be reviewed in line with modern bow and string materials. To help you start your arrow tune and spine experiments we have provided spine charts for use with our bows.

Arrow spine is really a measurement of a bow's particular speed and acceleration and generally speaking faster bows require stiffer arrows than slower bows. The generic measurement is bow weight and that is a crude measurement at best. Our XP10 limb is one of the fastest limbs around. The XP30 is faster again and the fastest limb is our "Black version" of each bow series with the HEXIV limb being in that group.

Another element that influences Spine is archer's technique. The better the release technique the lower the spine that can be shot. This is because the arrow leaves the bow straighter from a clean release than with a poor release and requires less arrow strength to straighten up. That explains why one archer is able to shoot a lighter Spined arrow than another. The archers release creates the paradox effect of the arrow leaving the bow.

Border limbs have exceptional lateral or torsional rigidity. This effectively means that the limb tips move less from side to side during the shot as they react and release from the archers fingers. The tail of the arrow is controlled into a narrower fishtail movement as less lateral limb-tip movement results in less lateral string and arrow-nock movement during the shot. Greater accuracy results from a range of release movements. This also means that the arrow on average has a cleaner launch with less paradox. The result is that you are able to experiment with a greater range of arrow Spines, as Border limb design is more forgiving to shoot and therefore more tolerant on arrow Spine.

We are all different and experimentation will be needed to find that ideal set of conditions for your particular shooting technique.
